The Shadow Brief

What The Shadow Brief is

One 90-second vertical video, published every month across the year. Each one covers a subject that lives outside the mainstream — focused on the topics and issues that matter most to marginalized and working-class people.

Who we are looking for

Three creators, for a one-year term running January through December.

We are looking for people who are engaging on camera, and who can take something complicated and make it land in a minute and a half.

Open to creators anywhere. Everything is recorded remotely.

This is especially ideal for people who have been making this content already —  might as well earn some money doing it.

What you would be doing

Four videos across the year, one per quarter. Your months are assigned the day you are selected, so you know your dates from the start.

For each one, you pitch the topic, write the script, and record yourself. We handle editing, graphics, captions, publishing, and promotion.

How each video comes together

1. Pitch — about six weeks before your publish date
2. Script — you write it, and we read it together before anything is recorded
3. Test clip — 60 seconds so we can check your framing, light, and audio once instead of fixing it in the edit
4. Record — you shoot it with the kit
5. Edit — we cut it, and you see it before it goes out
6. Publish
